# Items & Categories

What may be traded, how it is grouped, and the limits that keep the marketplace from becoming a money-laundering tool.

## Blocked items

```lua
Config.BlockWeapons = true
Config.BlacklistedItems = {
    'weapon_pistol', 'weapon_knife', 'weapon_bat',
    'phone', 'id_card', 'driver_license', 'weaponlicense',
    'vehiclekeys', 'housekeys',
    'dirty_money', 'markedbills', 'black_money',
    'handcuffs', 'police_badge', 'radio', 'armor', 'evidence_bag',
}
```

* `Config.BlockWeapons = true` blocks **every** item whose name starts with `weapon_`, in any capitalisation. This catches `WEAPON_PISTOL` as well as `weapon_pistol`.
* `Config.BlacklistedItems` is not case-sensitive either.

{% hint style="warning" %}
The shipped list is a starting point for a stock QBCore/ESX item set. Go through your own items and add everything that must never change hands: keys, licences, quest items, admin items, illegal money.
{% endhint %}

The check runs on the server for listings, auctions, buy orders and buy-order fulfilments, so a modified client cannot smuggle a blocked item in through any path. Other resources can ask the same question with `exports['daddy-marketplace']:IsItemBlacklisted(itemName)`.

## Categories

```lua
Config.Categories = {
    ['food']        = { label = 'Food & Drinks', icon = 'fa-utensils'    },
    ['materials']   = { label = 'Materials',     icon = 'fa-cube'        },
    ['tools']       = { label = 'Tools',         icon = 'fa-wrench'      },
    ['electronics'] = { label = 'Electronics',   icon = 'fa-microchip'   },
    ['clothing']    = { label = 'Clothing',      icon = 'fa-shirt'       },
    ['medical']     = { label = 'Medical',       icon = 'fa-kit-medical' },
    ['farming']     = { label = 'Farming',       icon = 'fa-seedling'    },
    ['misc']        = { label = 'Other',         icon = 'fa-box-open'    },
}
```

`icon` is a Font Awesome 6 solid icon name. The `label` is used as written on English servers; other languages use the `category.<key>` key from their locale file when it exists.

{% hint style="info" %}
Keep `misc`. Items without a category land there.
{% endhint %}

A location's `categories` field limits which of these can be traded at that market — see [Locations](/daddy-studios-docs/scripts/daddy-marketplace/configuration/locations.md).

## Item → category

```lua
Config.ItemCategories = {
    ['lettuce'] = 'farming',
    ['bread']   = 'food',
    ['iron']    = 'materials',
    -- ...
}
```

Anything not listed is `misc`. The category is resolved **on the server** when a listing is created, so a client cannot claim a different one to slip past a location's category filter.

## Payment restrictions per item

```lua
Config.ItemPaymentOverrides = {
    ['goldbar'] = { 'bank' },
}
```

Items listed here can only be paid for with the given methods. Items not listed use `Config.Marketplace.paymentMethods`. Useful for high-value items that should leave a bank trail instead of moving as cash.

## Price limits per item

```lua
Config.ItemPriceLimits = {
    ['goldbar']      = { min = 1000, max = 25000 },
    ['water_bottle'] = { max = 500 },
}
```

A minimum and/or maximum **price per unit**, enforced on listings, buy orders and auctions. Leave `min` or `max` out for no limit in that direction.

This is the single most effective setting against money laundering: without it, two players can trade a bottle of water for $500,000 to move money invisibly. Set limits for anything valuable, and consider a global cap through `Config.Marketplace.maxPrice`.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://daddy-studios.gitbook.io/daddy-studios-docs/scripts/daddy-marketplace/configuration/items.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
